More Than a Game: 3B Cup Delivers Another Unforgettable Year

The 8th Annual 3B Cup gave us everything we love—great golf, big moments, and one of the most exciting finishes we’ve ever seen.

Team White, led by Josh Sony, came out strong and jumped to a 5–2 lead after Day 1. But Team Black, captained by Bryan Peoples, didn’t stay down long. They battled back over the next two days, and by the time the final hole of team play wrapped up, the score was tied 13.5 to 13.5.

Which meant… we had a first.

For the first time in 3B Cup history, it all came down to a team putt-off.

Out on the practice green at the beautiful StoneCrest Golf Course in Prestonsburg, KY, each captain picked three guys to represent their team. The first round? Still tied. So they backed it up another 10 feet—more pressure, more nerves. And in the end, Team White came through to take the 2026 3B Cup in the kind of finish we will all remember.

But as incredible as the golf was—and it really was—we all know that’s not what makes the 3B Cup special.

The most important moments didn’t happen on the course. They happened in the moments gathered around the tee box, in the golf carts, at dinner, and maybe even during the “Morning Mulligan.”

This year’s theme—“What’s in your hand?” from Exodus 4—set the tone for the entire trip. Our Spiritual Leader, Terry Schertzer, challenged each man on the very first night to wrestle with that question… and then brought it back again during the final Morning Mulligan.

What has God already placed in your hand?  And what are you doing with it?

On that final morning, Terry took it even deeper—asking each of us to consider a question that matters more than any scorecard ever could:

What do you think about Jesus? Because how we answer that question shapes everything.

He encouraged the guys not to let this weekend be a one-time moment, but a launching point—to plug into a weekly IRON Group, to stay connected, and to keep sharpening one another just as Proverbs 27:17 reminds us: “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.”

And he reminded us of the mission of this ministry—to promote the bond of brotherhood through a shared belief in Jesus Christ.

That’s what sticks.

Because while the competition is fun (and let’s be honest—we all love it), it’s temporary. The shots fade. The scores get forgotten. But what God does in those moments of fellowship? That lasts forever.

The 3B Cup continues to be about more than golf. It’s about brotherhood. It’s about growing in faith. It’s about creating space for men to slow down, be real, and encounter Jesus together.

Another year, another incredible reminder:

The best wins don’t show up on the scoreboard. They show up in changed lives.
