Matthew 16:15-16-"But what about you?' he asked. 'Who do you say I am?' Simon Peter answered, 'You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."
The question Jesus asked the disciples is the most important question of all time. The answer to this question has eternal consequences. Peter's answer was revealed to him by the Holy Spirit. Peter got the answer correct.
What about us? What is our answer to this important question? Is it, He was a prophet? He was a good teacher? He was an example of moral living? or He was and is the Messiah, the Son of the living God? Think about your answer for a second. Can you profess that Jesus is the Messiah or just some historical figure that showed us how to live a good life and died?
Jesus did not want there to be any confussion about who He was and is today. In John 14:6 He said, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." Jesus did not say He was a way or a truth or a way of life. He stated He was: THE WAY, THE TRUTH, and THE LIFE. Make no mistake about it Jesus is the person who allows us to come into a relationship with God, the father. There is no substitute.
In just a few weeks we will be celebrating the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We will have the opportunity to share our faith and give the answer to His question, "Who do you say I am?" with those around us. Allow the Holy Spirit to lead you as you share your answer with others.
Prayer: Dear Lord, Thank you for being our way, truth and life. Help us share the hope of eternity with those around us. Holy Spirit use us to be your light in a dark world. Praise you for your life so that we can live ours. In Jesus' Name, Amen!!
