Matthew 18:3-"And he said: 'I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven."

This week I have been so blessed to have my grandchildren, from Arizona, come for a visit. They are 8, 3 and almost 2 years old. I stand amazed at how much energy and excitment they bring to our home. They are such explores. Everything they experience is met with awe and wonder. They are also very dependent on their parents for all of life's necessities. They don't have a care in the world. They are free to be who they were created to be and enjoy the world around them.

I believe this is why Jesus made the statement about becoming like children and how he relates it to the kingdom of heaven. The reason I feel my grandkids are free to explore with a sense of wonder is due to  their trust in their earthly father. They know whatever they need, dad will provide. They don't have to worry about clothing, shelter, food or any other basic needs. They trust that mom and dad will supply it for them.

I remember when my oldest daughter, Megan was about three or four years old. We were having our family prayer time. My youngest daughter, Morgan was having an issue with a clogged tear duct. She would wake up every morning with her eye matted shut. So, one of the prayers we prayed was for the Lord to heal her tear duct. Cindy and I prayed and when we were finished we made the comment, "if the duct was not better in the morning we would have to take her to the doctor." Megan spoke up and said, "you won't have to take Morgan to the doctor tomorrow because we prayed and asked Jesus to heal her." The faith of a child. 

The next morning when we got up guess what? You guessed it. Morgan's eye was clear and we never had another issue with a clogged tear duct. The lesson I learned was that the faith of a child is the kind of faith that God wants for all of us. It is as simple as saying a prayer and knowing that our heavenly father hears our pray and will answer our prayer. It is having the assurance that it is done.

I long to have the kind of faith that my daughter had several years ago. The faith that God will take care of me. The trust that God knows my every need and desires to meet it. The fact that I don't have to worry about it any more. Embracing everyday with awe and wonder at what God is doing and has already done. Waking up each day knowing my heavenly father is faithful and all I need to do is become like a child and know he is near.

Prayer-Dear Lord, help me to become like a child in my relationship with you. Give me the eyes to view how awesome you are and how blessed I am. Give me the faith to know I can bring all my cares and concerns to you and you will answer them. Help me become like a child in my walk with you. In Jesus' Name, Amen!!
